Snowdonia National Park Authority's New Visitors' Centre on Mount Snowdon Opens - 12 June 2009
Five years to build and at a cost £8.5 million including granite walls from
Blaenau Ffestiniog and Welsh oak for the building's interior. But then it had
to be a special building to withstand the hostile conditions on the unforgiving
3,500 feet summit of Mount Snowdon. From 150 miles per hour winds, an annual
rainfall of over five metres and temperatures plunging below minus 20
centigrade. This was some building challenge.
The Snowdonia National Park is proud of this architectural feat and
Penmaenuchaf Hall would strongly recommend the visit to Hafod Eryri on Mount
Snowdon's peak.
